About Erik Abbink

Studies
Conservatorium Hogeschool Enschede (Holland) with Arno Bornkamp and Johan van der Linden. Other studies include European Saxophone Course (Alicante, with Nobuo Sugawa), Orlando Festival (Kerkrade, with cellist Wolfgang Laufer) and the Banff Centre (with pianist Jane Coop, cellist Lawrence Lesser and violist David Takeno).
Performances
Concerts with Helikon Saxofoon Kwartet throughout the Netherlands and a USA tour, with a special broadcast for WFMT, Chicago. In Holland Erik was a frequently asked classical musician for ensembles and orchestras such as the Netherlands Wind Ensemble and the Rotterdam Philharmonic. In Canada, Erik has given masterclasses at UBC and U of Calgary.
Erik continues giving concerts with his wife pianist Jacqueline Perriam (duo Perriam Abbink), in schools, universities and chamber music venues. He enjoys teaching students of all ages and levels.
