I have recently completed a Master's of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Victoria where I studied with the Lafayette String Quartet. I also hold a Bachelor of Music from Memorial University, a Performance diploma from the Royal Conservatory, and a diploma in Teaching and Performance from the Victoria Conservatory.
I customize my teaching approach to each student because every student has a unique style of learning and a unique set of goals. I teach several styles of violin playing including classical, folk fiddle, and klezmer. I can prepare you or your child for conservatory exams, concerts, or just cultivate a love for music in a fun and interesting atmosphere.

I have studied violin for over eleven years and I have taught violin for just over a year. I am a fourth year Geography and Environmental studies student at the University of Victoria. I use a mixture of methods and I try to balance ear-training with note-reading. Please contact me for more information or to audit a lesson. References are available.
Rates: I offer affordable rates that take into consideration my experience and abilities. I don’t believe that money should be a barrier to learning music. Please enquire for more information.

Amy began teaching violin, viola, fiddle, chamber music and music theory in her own studio 22 years ago. Amy's students have won numerous honors including seven RCM Silver Medals as well as many trophies and scholarships in local music festivals. Amy is the founder and director of both the Sizzlers Fiddle Group and the Amati String Chamber Orchestra.
Amy starts students on the violin as early as 3 years of age. She also teaches high school students up to University entrance level. When time permits, she especially enjoys coaching chamber music and attending local performances.

Donna Robertson is an experienced committed teacher. She has earned her Bachelor of Music, ARCT and A.A. (Mus.) and plays professionally in the Victoria Symphony and other groups. As well as their private lessons, her students have opportunities to play in ensembles and concerts. When they are ready to, they play music in 3 or 4 parts with one or two people on a part.
The studio has a waiting room with a computor equipped with theory and ear training software. Prospective students are welcome to come and observe another student's lesson.
Donna also teaches viola.

Deborah Young teaches students age 4 to adult, beginner to grade eight Toronto Conservatory or Suzuki book 8. Although Deborah has extensive training in the Suzuki method she incorporates reading into Suzuki lessons right from the start.
Individual lessons are supplemented with small group activities and concerts. The training hopes to extend well beyond the individual lessons to include exposure and or participation in the childhood classics along with professional musicians in the community as well as dancers and non string instrumentalist. The students work at their chosen level from highly committed festival participant to little dabbler.
Please contact Deborah for more information.
